Student History Fair 2022

“Debate & Diplomacy in TexasHistory Prior to 1900.”

Note to Parents

Dear parents, teachers, and students, It’s time again to start planning your project for the 2022 Student History Fair, brought to you by the Texas Heroes Foundation. This year’s theme is “Debate & Diplomacy in Texas
History Prior to 1900.” There are five categories to choose from; Exhibit, Research paper, Creative Writing paper, Performance, and Artwork and it is open to grades 3-12 this year. Deadlines for the projects begin on February 4, 2022, see the rules for more information. The Awards Ceremony is on Friday, February 25, 2022. Each year we give out between $4,000 and $5,000 in awards and scholarships. This year the winner could be you. Good Luck!

and include the student’s name, title and contact information separately in the email.
In-Person Submissions: Acton United Methodist Church 3433 Fall Creek Hwy. on either 2/20/22 from 3-5 pm or
2/21/22 from 5-7 pm.

AWARDS CEREMONY will be held at Acton United Methodist Church on Friday, February 25th,
6:30 pm. All entries are open to view and vote for People’s Choice Award from 5:30-6:15 pm on
2/25/22.

All Entries MUST be picked up at the end of the awards presentation at 6:30 pm on February 25, at
Acton United Methodist Church.
All entries not picked up will be discarded

Rules For Entry

ALL CATEGORIES:
Complete Entry Form For Each Entry: http://bit.do/SHF2022 (case sensitive)
Must relate to the 2022 Student History Fair theme “Debate & Diplomacy in Texas
History Prior to 1900.”

Research Paper:
Must work alone
Must be original, factual and historically based
Must be typed and double-spaced
Word count: less than 1,000 words, provided on cover sheet
Must provide a list of sources
Submitted electronically (PDF only) on Entry Form or mail by 2/4/22
Creative Writing Paper:
Must work alone
Must be original, factual and historically based.
Must be typed and double-spaced
Word count: less than 1,000 words, provided on cover
Must provide a list of sources
Submitted electronically (PDF only) on Entry Form or mail by 2/4/22
Exhibits:
Work alone or in a group (5 people or less)
Exhibit size – no larger than 40” wide, 30” deep, and 6’ high.
Include any combination of photos, research paper, artwork, 3-D models, etc.
Submitted in-person 2/20/22 3-5 pm or 2/21/22 5-7 pm
Artwork:
Work alone or in a group (5 people or less)
Entries can include any painting/print style, sculpture, photography, or any other art form.
Must be mounted to hang or stable enough to display
Submitted in-person 2/20/22 3-5 pm or 2/21/22 5-7 pm
Performing Arts:
Work alone or in a group
May include ballads, scenes, duets, solo, choirs
Must be 10 minutes or less
Performed in-person 2/20/22 3-5 pm or 2/21/22 5-7 pm By Appointment ONLY

Criteria for Judging

  1. Historical Content & Accuracy
  2. Relates to 2022 Theme: “Debate & Diplomacy in Texas History Prior to 1900”
  3. Organized Structure and Clearly Stated
  4. Creativity and uniqueness of the subject matter
  5. Demonstrates abundant research
  6. Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling (if applicable)
